Welcome To The Wonderful World Of Australia

Posted on : 06-12-2009 | By : Yaguchi Harumi | In : Recreation

Most people think of Australia as being mostly dirt and desert with nothing to offer in the terms of a vacation. When some friends suggested we go I had the same idea but I couldn’t have been more wrong. We had a wonderful time and I thought I would pass the experience along to you.

The beaches alone are well worth the trip. They have all sorts of water activities and even underwater caves to explore. One area alone has over 50,000 different species of fish plus miles of coral reef and even a few WWII subs you can see. My favorite was the diving and exploring the caves, they look spectacular and made you feel as though you were in another world.

Sydney offers a fast pace night life with concerts, shows, and numerous festivals and activities to keep you plenty busy. You defiantly won’t be bored here and the action seems never ending. They also boast over 70 beaches plus the have a gorgeous harbor and even an opera house.

And yes they do have those deserts but they were not like I thought they would be. Even in the desert we found magnificent purple vegetation and even a lush green oasis or two. It is also a rock climber paradise. We had a blast and it was almost spiritual being in an ancient land with landscapes as far as the eye can see. The sunsets alone were worth what we paid for the trip.

Be prepared for a bit of culture shock. You should keep in mind that this is a foreign country and though they are much like me and you, you may find some very interesting people. Many Australians will gladly sit around a fire and spin you a yarn into the wee hours of the morning. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful.

This turned out to be a vacation of a lifetime and I would gladly go back again. If you have the chance then I say go for it. You’ll never regret giving it a try.

Yaguchi Harumi loves to travel and has just had a wonderful holiday to that ‘land down under’ , Australia , and plans on returning as soon as possible.

The Health Benefits of Riding a Bike

Posted on : 06-12-2009 | By : Rorkham Fiddler | In : Recreation

Riding a bicycle is one of the most effective ways to lose weight. Besides other beneficial effects on health, cycling has a huge impact on metabolism, training your muscles and hearth. Have I mentioned that it has no side effects, unlike other ways to lose weight? Even diets can often have detrimental effects your health, especially the fad diets, due to improper nutrition.

Cycling influences the heart rate, reducing the risk of developing heart diseases. Your lungs will receive more oxygen and will function better. This activity has beneficial effects on your mood, fighting effectively against stress. By riding a bike constantly, you will have more resistance, flexibility and strength. Anyone can practice this sport, regardless of age!

It turns out that cycling is very effective in case of stress. Whether you do it just for pleasure or for a particular reason, you will reach the destination more relaxed, more energetic and happier.

Because bicycles don’t use oil or gasoline, you will do something good for the people around you by protecting the environment. This way, you will fight against air pollution. When riding a bike, you will be able to notice everything that happens on your way, and just enjoy the time you spend outdoors feeling the breeze.

When riding a bike, you’ll notice that it is often more practical than driving a car. Parking spaces are always guaranteed, wherever you go. The traffic won’t be a problem anymore. And although cars are a better option for long trips, you will find that for short trips or heavy traffic, you can travel as fast or even faster on your bike.

We all love to go to concerts and events and we all need to go to the market. Unfortunately, finding a free parking space in such places can turn into a nightmare. We find it difficult when we arrive there and it often seems even harder to get out. However, as long as you have the bike and use it, there’s no need to think about these issues anymore. Just grab your bicycle, perhaps taking a friend along, and go.

Biking is also a solid option financially. Driving a car can cost a lot more, depending on the vehicle. This expense is due to costs of petroleum, oil, car maintenance, etc. These costs include the hidden costs of owning a vehicle, such as depreciation, taxes and insurance. Now think about how much money you save by riding a bicycle.

When cycling, you make a lot of good things, many of them being beneficial for the others. The most important is that you will have a better health, a good mood, more self confidence and even a more money in the pocket. So, for all these reasons, opt for riding a bike. Even if you can’t save the world, at least you’ll have fun trying!

Trains In Seattle and Train Sets

Posted on : 06-12-2009 | By : Owen Jones | In : Recreation

Boys and girls of all ages love trains and train sets. They have played a vital role in the history of this country and Seattle, Washington and the Northwest in particular. In deed, the roles of trains in this part of the country have in the past been so critical that there are a couple of museums devoted to them. Trains were essential lifelines for the population here for many years. While their importance seems to be dwindling in today’s society, their significance throughout the history of our country remains.

If you really are a train enthusiast, then it should not be hard to talk you into stopping by Seattle’s Train Center before and after touring the museums devoted to trains and their importance in history. The Train Center offers a wide selection of model train parts and pieces that would make excellent additions to your train set or a great beginning for a train set for you or your kids.

After you’ve whetted your appetite for trains and gotten your child all keyed up about them, it is time to take a walk back in time to the Northwest Railway Museum. Here you can learn about railway history or even choose to take a ride on one of the trains that leaves on several excursions during the day. Most of the tours are 65-75 minutes long and are a great treat for young and old alike. Perhaps the greatest thing about this museum is that its prime objective is to educate the public about the important function that railroads had in the development of this part of the country.

If you’re really interested in sharing your love for trains with the ones you love, you may consider taking a spin on the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train. This is a fantastic way to not only get the experience of travelling the rails but to take in some of the beautiful Washington scenery and have a gourmet meal in the process. During the months of November through to April up to two children may ride free with a paying adult.

There are certain restrictions on the type of seating, but it is a great way to get the event at a vastly reduced price. There are also special events such as Murder Mystery Trains and Magic and Illusion shows in addition to certain holiday events as well. Be sure to check out what is going on while you are visiting Seattle and see if this is something that might interest you and your family.

If you are up for a not so short drive to Pasco (approx. three and a half hours from Seattle), you might find the Washington State Railroads Historical Society Museum well worth the trip. Be sure to keep in mind that the museum is only open on Saturday and that the hours are limited so this is a journey you need to plan in advance. The best thing about this museum to me is the fact that there are lovely little stories, like the blackboard that recorded the first snowfall at the depot each year and others such as this.

It is the short stories that do not necessarily make history that do make lasting impressions and I am glad to see this particular story is being shared. Just remember, when visiting any of these depots, museums, and train tours that you definitely must bring your inner child with you in order to enjoy them as you should.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on a lot of topics, but is presently involved with train sets for kids. If you would like to know more about train sets for kids, please go over to our website for some great offers.

The Detroit Pistons Season Outlook

Posted on : 05-12-2009 | By : Carla Newhouse | In : Recreation

The Detroit Pistons wish to forget the 08′-09′ season. They were under .500 for the first time in many years and were dominated in the first round against the Cleveland Cavaliers, it was an embarrassment.

Being 39-43, most people agree doesn’t deserve a playoff birth but since they haven’t changed the rules the Pistons had to face the number one team in the East at the time.

The Allen Iverson trade was a disaster and the Pistons played disinterested at times. The Pistons would go on long scoring droughts which essentially ended their season at the all-star break. They were wishing they had Billups back!

With a new season comes new hope for Pistons fans. The Pistons acquired potential all stars in Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva who both are coming off their best season of their young careers.

Villanueva comes in with some size. He can score points as well and with his presence on defense, he should help improve both sides of the ball.

Say what you want about the Pistons. They’re a different team than they once were, but they’re clearly not throwing in the towel either. It was about 7 or 8 years ago that the Pistons were the joke of the NBA, and GM Joe Dumars has done a terrific job at rebuilding the team. It’s apparent that the Chauncey Billups trade was a bad idea, but the Detroit Pistons are ready to accept their current state and move on.

There’s some talented youth in Rodney Stuckey, and he’ll finally have the opportunity to shine at the point guard position. Additionally, Jason Maxiell will continue to develop, and Chris Wilcox will provide the team with some solid minutes at the forward and center positions.

Meet the new Detroit Pistons. There’s certainly some talent to go around here. Perhaps they’ll surprise us all.

Discover How To Make Use Of Your Private Pilot License

Posted on : 05-12-2009 | By : Bruce Hogan | In : Recreation

How often in life, do we have some secret dreams of things we would like to do but we always seem to put them aside? It would be a common occurrence if one were to believe the seniors that often reminisce about the things they wish they had done.

If you have a dream of becoming a Pilot then don’t put yourself in one of these Senior’s shoes regarding the wish I had done that? scenario. Make up your mind you are going to pursue your desire. At least research it and find out what it will take to make your dream come true. Doing this means, you have taken your first step toward making it a reality.

Sometimes when we want something so badly we just won’t believe it could happen so we find all kinds of excuses to make that the truth. Becoming a Pilot fits well into this category. It’s too time consuming, too much education is needed, I’m too old, or its too expensive are just some of the arguments we support our feelings with for something that we think is unattainable.

In regards to becoming, a Private Pilot lets look at some of the arguments that we just outlined.

It is too time consuming. You will be surprised to learn that it does not take years to learn to become a Private Pilot. It actually demands 40 hours of flying time, and a theory course. If you can afford to set aside time for one or two lessons a week, then it would put you right on schedule for completing the course in the average amount of time. You do not have to attend school 5 days a week. You can consider night courses at least for the theory aspect and weekends for your flying.

Too much education is required. This too is another misconception. As long as you can read, write and understand English well and you are of the age of 17 years of age or older, then you have the basic requirements. What you are going to be learning is not dependant on other academic certificates you hold from your regular education. The success of the course is dependant totally, on what you are going to be learning and studying.

I’m too old. That’s one unique thing about becoming a Private Pilot. You are never too old. If you can pass the required aviation medical examination then you are considered just as fit as that 17 year old Pilot in training you may be sitting beside.

It’s too expensive It certainly is not going to be a cheap endeavor. Then you have to consider how much is your dream worth to you. It’s no more expensive than any of the other types of recreation that we partake in. The actual training costs will be your biggest expense. If you think about it, though perhaps if you put off buying that brand new car for a year you would be able to find the money you need to pay for your training. Think about which is going to bring you more pleasure? Driving that new sports car or flying in the sky?

So now the only thing left for you to do, is go out and find the best flight training schools in your area, with the best instructors, and the best price and you will be on your way to flying high!

Announcing: The complete pilot helicopter flight training 2 DVD system. The #1 certified flight training helicopter program.

Getting Your Flight License – Time You Need For Your Pilot Licence

Posted on : 05-12-2009 | By : Bruce Hogan | In : Recreation

Like most of us once, we have decided to embark on an adventure, we are anxious to get right at it. It is no different when it comes to one wanting to obtain their private pilot?s license. Once of the first questions you probably want to answer is how much of your time is it going to take to achieve your goal. There is no one answer to this. Its dependant on many factors. First, it depends on the location of your training and what is available. Are there several training facilities or just one? Do they operate full time or part time? Is there a waiting list to get in? These are all questions geared towards how long it will take.

Some of your decisions will structure the time frame. For example do you want to learn to fly in a rural setting where there is not much traffic or are you going to opt for city training where there is high traffic volume. There are good and bad points to both scenarios. It would be ideal if you could have the best of both worlds. Learning to fly in both a country setting as well as a city setting would certainly hone your skills as an upcoming pilot.

If your training is taking place in the city, you are going to be dealing with multiple runways, numerous other planes and even navigating landings via the winds. These factors are not so evident in the rural setting. No matter which setting you choose you will still have to learn the same flying techniques and skills. FAA regulations stipulate that you must be able to land and take off from a landing strip that has air traffic control via their tower.

Once you start your research for locating a flight training school, you will encounter both approved and non approved schools. This does not mean that the non approved schools are inferior. There was a large demand for pilots to carry out military operations as well as a requirement for commercial pilots. This demand created the birth of the approved flight training schools. Private Pilots remained and still do with the smaller non-approved flight training schools. The majority of these candidate want their private pilots license for recreational use or in some cases small business endeavors. All schools no matter whether approved or non approved must adhere to the same certification standards and regulations. The most noticeable difference between the two types of Schools is the non-approved have small operating budgets so they tend to teach at smaller airfields with most basic planes. They have smaller student quotas and the instructors are not paid the high salaries found at the approved schools.

When it comes down to how long it will actually take you will primarily depend on whether you can donate a full time schedule to your training or whether you can only intermittently attend training. In addition to this is available of room in the course. If flight training schools are scarce in your area then there maybe a waiting period to get in.

Get your hands on 2000 pages of pilot manuals and videos with the #1 flight school home study program. You can attain your private pilot license in 10 days or less.
